In 2012, “Pitch Perfect” revolutionized the a cappella scene. The musical comedy franchise includes three films (“Pitch Perfect,” “Pitch Perfect 2,” and “Pitch Perfect 3”) and a Peacock series (“Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin”). Rebel Wilson, known from “Bridesmaids,” portrayed Fat Amy in all three films, sparking fan anticipation regarding a potential fourth installment.

Wilson shared with BBC Radio 2 that a fourth Indiana Jones film is in development. However, due to the cast members’ age, the storyline still needs to be determined and the script perfected, a common challenge in filmmaking.

Why Was Bumper in Berlin Canceled?

Peacock initially renewed “Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin” for a second season in January 2023. However, the streamer surprisingly reversed its decision in September.

Peacock attributed the cancellation to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. Universal claimed that production delays, resulting from the work stoppage, forced the cancellation. Despite knowing the release date wouldn’t be met, pre-production for Season 2 hadn’t begun before the WGA strike.

Peacock’s prior enthusiasm for the future of Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin made its cancellation a surprise.

NBCUniversal Television and Streaming Entertainment Content Chairman Susan Rovner expressed confidence in the reception of “Bumper in Berlin.” Rovner praised UTV, Megan Amram, Elizabeth Banks, and Max Handelman for creating an engaging story featuring unique renditions of recognizable songs. She expressed anticipation for the show’s success on Peacock.

Stay tuned for the latest updates on the Pitch Perfect franchise.
