Hugh Jackman’s Near-Miss Wolverine Costume

Hugh Jackman was on the verge of donning the iconic yellow-and-blue Wolverine costume during the Fox-Marvel era, the actor himself has revealed.

“I almost wore the iconic yellow-and-blue suit in ‘The Wolverine’,” Jackman revealed. “But when I tried it on for this movie, I was astounded that we hadn’t done it sooner. It felt so natural. ‘That’s him,’ I realized. This suit showcases unexplored facets of Wolverine’s character. It’s thrilling for me and a perfect match for Deadpool, who needs someone to put him in his place.”

In the annals of Marvel movie lore, a fascinating anecdote lingers: James Mangold’s “The Wolverine” nearly featured a comic-faithful Wolverine look. Jackman hinted at a yellow-and-blue costume concept, while fans recall a deleted scene showcasing Wolverine’s yellow-and-brown suit in “The Wolverine.” The case displaying Logan’s yellow-and-brown attire remains the closest live-action representation of the comic-accurate costume. Its scarcity has solidified its iconic status.

Comic book movies have undergone a significant shift in aesthetics, with audiences embracing once-unthinkable elements. In 2000, Wolverine’s aversion to black leather suits in “X-Men” was a source of humor. Today, Jackman’s iconic yellow spandex costume from “Logan” has become a cinematic sensation. This evolution reflects the changing sensibilities of moviegoers towards these iconic designs.

The trailer and early synopsis for Deadpool & Wolverine tease Wade Wilson’s detention by the TVA, where he’s tasked with a mission. He recruits an emotionally shattered Wolverine variant from a tragic timeline where the X-Men perished. Their mission leads them to the multiversal wasteland where the TVA disposes its discards, haunted by the creature Alioth from Loki. Amidst this chaos resides Cassandra Nova, a formidable villain with close ties to Charles Xavier and a sinister presence in X-Men lore.

Former Fox-Marvel movie stars may make cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine, with rumors of Taylor Swift appearing as an iconic X-Men character. Despite the anticipated cameos, MCU fans will not need to do any “homework” to enjoy Deadpool 3, according to Shawn Levy.

Levy said, “I was a good student in school and I’ll do my homework as an adult. But I definitely want people to know that my movie isn’t homework; it’s entertainment. I have a healthy respect and gratitude towards the rabid fan base, but I didn’t presume that everyone coming to see this movie is a Marvel lore expert. It’s built for fun, no prior research required.”

“Deadpool & Wolverine” is set to release on July 26th, marking the 11th anniversary of “The Wolverine’s” release.
