Hugh Jackman, soon to reprise his iconic role as Wolverine in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” has secured his next project. Alongside Jodie Comer from “Killing Eve,” Jackman will star in a reimagined version of Robin Hood. Notably, the premise bears striking similarities to Jackman’s acclaimed film “Logan.”
Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Part One) is writing and directing The Death of Robin Hood, which will be available at the Cannes market via WME Independent. Aaron Ryder (Arrival, The Prestige) is producing. The film reimagines the classic Robin Hood story, with the titular character facing his past after years of crime and violence. Robin Hood is gravely injured and seeks help from a mysterious woman who offers him redemption.
“The opportunity to reinvent Robin Hood’s story has been amazing,” Sarnoski stated. “Casting was paramount. I have immense confidence in Hugh and Jodie to convey this tale powerfully.”
Lyrical Media is financing the project with Ryder and Andrew Swett producing under their Ryder Picture Company banner. Alexander Black also produces for Lyrical Media. Jon Rosenberg, Natalie Sellers, Rama Gottumukkala, Sarnoski, and Jackman serve as executive producers.
Ryder and Swett emphasized that this Robin Hood narrative deviates from familiar versions. Michael has created a more tangible and intense story. With the contributions of Alexander Black, Lyrical, Rama, and Michael, audiences will adore Hugh and Jodie’s pairing in this epic.
“We’re delighted to collaborate with visionary director Michael, exceptional cast Hugh and Jodie, and trusted producers Ryder and Swett of RPC on this remarkable project.”
Production for *The Death of Robin Hood* begins next February with no current release date. *Deadpool & Wolverine* premieres July 26th. Stay updated for more news on Jackman’s upcoming projects.
