Director Wes Ball envisions “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” as the catalyst for a new trilogy. Acknowledging that such large-scale films require ample time for production, Ball suggests Hollywood prioritize a faster turnaround between sequels. He cites the three-year gap between each installment in the previous “Caesar” trilogy as a baseline for the prospective new films. However, Ball notes that external factors may delay the sequel timeline, and he hopes that these obstacles can be swiftly addressed.

“We’ll take the necessary time to get it right,” said Ball. “This franchise is important to the studio, so we’re committed to delivering another successful installment. We don’t want to rush into production with an incomplete script, as it inevitably leads to problems. By taking our time and developing a solid foundation, we can create a film that meets the expectations of our audience.

Fortunately, we’ve already put considerable thought into the direction of the story. The ending of this movie opens up a world of possibilities for future exploration, rich with drama and conflict. We’re excited to dive deeper into this world and bring to life a captivating film.”

“None,” Ball quipped. “It’s tough creating these films. For clarity, titles follow this rule: it’s either one ‘of the’ or ‘for the,’ not multiple ‘of thes.’ Only a single ‘of the Planet of the Apes’ appears in each title. That’s how it’s been since the ’70s.”

Ball shared an additional anecdote about his initial title for the film: “Empire of the Planet of the Apes.” He explained that although it was his original idea, “we couldn’t do it, we just couldn’t.”
