This summer, “Mononoke” explores a world of evil spirits with its “Medicine Seller” character. A new trailer showcases the anime’s distinct art style.
The forthcoming film revisits the 2007 anime’s established universe, but original voice actor Takahiro Sakurai passes the mantle to Hirohsi Kamiya. Kamiya’s notable anime credits include Law in “One Piece,” Gamma 1 in “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero,” and Captain Levi in “Attack on Titan.” The film is produced by Twin Engine, known for “Zom 100: Bucket List of The Dead,” “Vinland Saga,” and “Pokemon: Twilight Wings.”
The Mononoke Movie is Coming
The _Mononoke_ anime film is set to release in Japan on July 26th. Although there has been no confirmation of its North American release, anime continues to be imported to the West at a steady pace.
**Synopsis:**
In feudal Japan, malevolent spirits known as mononoke terrorize both homes and countryside, instilling fear. A mysterious individual, the Medicine Seller, possesses the power to vanquish these spirits with his Exorcism Sword.
Before he can draw his sword, however, the Medicine Seller must unravel the Form, Truth, and Reason of the mononoke. Armed with his sharp wit and keen intellect, he embarks on a perilous journey, eradicating evil spirits wherever he goes.
