With 25 years of grilling Krabby Pattys under his belt, SpongeBob SquarePants shows no signs of slowing down. The beloved fry cook has three films to his name and two more on the horizon. While fans await the 2025 release of “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” Netflix offers a glimpse into Sandy Cheeks’ upcoming adventure, providing a fresh look at Bikini Bottom.
Sandy Cheeks, a squirrel scientist from Texas, distinguishes herself from other Bikini Bottom residents as neither a fish nor a crustacean. She conducts experiments while interacting with Krusty Krab employees. In an upcoming film releasing August 2nd on Netflix, Sandy returns to the surface, accompanied by Spongebob.
Sandy Cheeks’ First Movie: A First Look
Employing CG animation, “Saving Bikini Bottom” diverges from the traditional 2-D style of the animated series. Nickelodeon has previously utilized this approach in both “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water” and “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run,” leveraging computer-generated technology to narrate compelling stories within the Bikini Bottom setting.
In the upcoming “Saving Bikini Bottom: A Sandy Cheeks” movie, Bikini Bottom and its inhabitants are mysteriously abducted from the ocean. Sandy Cheeks and SpongeBob SquarePants embark on a mission to Texas to confront a villainous scheme and rescue their beloved town.
Returning favorites Carolyn Lawrence and Tom Kenny reprise their roles as Sandy and Spongebob, respectively, in the upcoming animated film. Joining them are old and new voice actors to the underwater universe, including Wanda Sykes, Clancy Brown, Bill Fagerbakke, Mr. Lawrence, Rodger Bumpass, Johnny Knoxville, Craig Robinson, Grey DeLisle, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, and Matty Cardarople.
