Iconic horror franchise The Exorcist may be relaunched with director Mike Flanagan, creator of “Midnight Mass” and “The Fall of the House of Usher,” in talks to helm the project under Blumhouse and Universal Pictures.
Initially expected to direct later installments of a planned trilogy, Flanagan is now reportedly crafting a distinct story following the underperforming and critically mixed “The Exorcist: Believer” by David Gordon Green last year.
“My focus is on creating. If the opportunity to direct The Exorcist: Deceiver arises while I’m developing these plans, I’d embrace it,” Green stated about his potential return to the franchise. “Currently, I’m exploring the story and aligning it with my personal circumstances.”

Green previously told ComicBook.com that if the world embraces “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,” they have a roadmap for sequels. He expressed excitement about exploring new avenues if the movie is well received and they can continue the franchise.
