CCXP in Mexico unveiled a new poster for the live-action Borderlands movie, featuring the official tagline “Chaos loves company.” The poster showcases the full lead cast wielding their weapons, ready to combat the chaos of Pandora. After releasing the first posters and trailer earlier this year, more updates are expected before the movie’s summer premiere.

Cate Blanchett portrays Lilith, one of the most iconic characters in the Borderlands franchise. Lilith, a lone wolf outlaw, arrives on Pandora as a Vault Hunter and is one of the few Sirens in existence. She is a playable character in Borderlands, a major character in Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel, and the deuteragonist in Borderlands 3.

In addition to Cate Blanchett in the lead role, the cast boasts an impressive lineup: Kevin Hart as Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Patricia Tannis, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, Florian Munteanu as Krieg, and Jack Black as the iconic Claptrap. The ensemble also includes Edgar Martinez, Gina Gershon, Janina Gavankar, Cheyenne Jackson, Charles Babalola, Benjamin Byron Davis, Steven Boyer, Ryann Redmond, and Haley Bennett.

The movie Borderlands, inspired by the popular action role-playing first-person looter shooter video game franchise from Gearbox Software, is directed by Eli Roth and is set to release on August 9th, 2024.

What Is The Borderlands Movie About?

The official synopsis for Borderlands the movie reads:

Infamous outlaw Lilith returns to Pandora to find Atlas’ missing daughter. Despite her reluctance, she allies with an unlikely team: Roland, a former mercenary seeking redemption; Tiny Tina, a demolitionist; Krieg, Tina’s protective companion; Tannis, a brilliant yet unstable scientist; and Claptrap, a sarcastic robot. Together, they face alien monsters and bandits to rescue the girl, who possesses immense power. Not only do they fight for her, but also for the bond they have forged.

Despite not directly adapting any specific game, “Borderlands” is inspired by the video game franchise. Notable changes compared to the games include Lilith’s home planet being Pandora and Tiny Tina’s introduction in Borderlands 2. Fan reactions to the upcoming movie have been mixed, showcasing skepticism despite recent successes in adapting video game franchises to film and television. The movie’s reception among the existing fandom remains to be determined upon its release.
