What Is The Garfield Movie About?

Garfield, the beloved lasagna-loving cat, embarks on an adventure beyond his cozy home. Reunited with his estranged father, Vic, and their loyal canine companion Odie, they team up for a daring heist filled with humor and excitement.

In addition to Pratt, The Garfield Movie features a star-studded voice cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein, and Bowen Yang.

Directed by Mark Dindal (“The Emperor’s New Groove”), “The Garfield Movie” features a screenplay by Paul A. Kaplan, Mark Torgove (“Raising Hope”), and David Reynolds (“Finding Nemo”). The film’s producers include John Cohen, Broderick Johnson, Andrew A. Kosove, Steven P. Wegner, Craig Sost, Namit Malhotra, and Crosby Clyse.

Harvey Guillén Talks Playing Odie:

At the beginning of the year, ComicBook discussed with Guillén his portrayal of Odie. As Odie typically does not speak, we inquired if he would be vocal in the film.

“Excuse me. Sorry,” Guillén recalled about being offered the role of Odie. Initially bewildered by the character’s lack of dialogue, he was told, “We love what you did with Perrito, and he’s so sweet and kind, and the way he does everything.” The directors requested that Guillén convey Odie’s emotions without words, a challenge that he eagerly accepted.

Accepting the challenge of performing without words, the actor embraced the unique nature of the role. Unlike previous voice characters, this required a different approach, creating a distinct performance that sets it apart from the others. The actor expressed confidence that audiences will appreciate the fresh and innovative approach taken in this work.

Mark your calendars for May 24th, when The Garfield Movie hits theaters!
